A Desire to Serve in Central America
On December 31, 2016 I had the privilege and honor of sharing at Pastors Matthew & Jenny VanderELs Founded In Truth fellowship in Rock Hill, SC. One of the best times I’ve had so far sharing in a Hebrew Roots fellowship. There is a great atmosphere of family at this fellowship. What impressed me the most with this fellowship was their response to the message I shared.
A fellowship is supposed to be about community
I shared about purpose and sharing your “gift/treasure” with those around you. After sharing this message, Angie Knape started putting together a team of ten individuals who wanted to come to Costa Rica and share their gift with others. This has been very encouraging to me because this is the first Hebrew Roots/Messianic congregation that has come to Costa Rica to do missions work with us.
The schedule will consist of an orphanage visit, elderly folks home visit, an all day visit to an Indigenous home, a visit to an Indigenous church in Chinekicha, children’s ministry, of course a beach day, and a few more surprises.
Matthew 25:34-40 “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. ‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me somethingto eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
It is my prayer that Founded In Truth fellowship will be pioneers and ignite something in other Hebrew Roots fellowships. Missions or better put, the weightier matters of the law, is one of the most overlooked things in Torah fellowships. That is a tragedy because Y’shua gave His life as an example to you and me as how we should serve others. It is even more of a tragedy when we pride ourselves on “keeping the commandments” while trashing those who supposedly don’t, but yet we fail at keeping the greatest commandment in serving, loving, and helping our brothers and sisters in need. SELAH!!!
Revelation 3:17 ‘Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
